The Death Cap Situation

 So apparently, in 2023, a mother of two, murdered her inlaws. This took place in Australia. Leongatha to  be precise. The accused murderer is Erin Patterson. If she is found guilty, she will serve life imprisonment. 

Erin Trudy Patterson, alleged murderer of three

Mrs.Patterson is accused of murder of three people, and one attempted murder. The victims inlcude her inlaws; Don and Gail Patterson, and Gail's sister, Heather Wilkinson. Heather's husband, Ian Wilkinson survived after suffering from coma.

What's most strange about this case is not the murders themselves, but the way they were carried out. It is known that Erin invited her husband,and her inlaws to a lunch. She had booked a movie for her kids. Why, you may ask? Well, she meant to take advice from her guests about how to tell her chilren regarding her cancer diagnosis. The prosecution however says otherwise. It says that the cancer diagnosis was a lie, and a trap so she could murder her inlaws. The defense says that there was no reason for Erin to murder them. Hence, the case still carries on. Till now, it is the third day of jury deliberation, and the jury is sequestered meaning they are not at all to go in public (so that thier judgement isn't clouded), which is a rare case in Australia. 

Now, we come to the main point. The Death Caps. Erin Patterson is accused of putting Death Cap mushrooms in the beef wellington she made for the lunch. Death Caps are extremely poisonous. And they are involved in various mushroom poisoning cases. Erin Patterson however denies anything related to the poisonous mushrooms. She says that while putting the grocery mushrooms she must've put foraged ones. If that is so, the whole thing was a mishap. But, there were her phones, resetted multiple times, and the food dehydrator she threw away. To that she says that she panicked, and that she was scared she'd get into trouble. The food dehydrator explains alot about the mushrooms and their relation to the 'murders'. Erin Patterson also says she has bulimia, due to which she later threw up her half of the beef wellington, though she too, stayed in the hospital. The nurse said she wasn't as sick as the guests. 

Anyhow. 

This situation rooted due to Mr and Mrs Patterson having issues in their marriage, and kept growing until Mr.Patterson referred himself as 'single' on his tax return. The problem only got worse aftert that, as the question rose whether the husband will pay for the childrens' education or the wife. Initally, Mrs.Patterson also invited her husband to the lunch, but he refused. 

As the clock ticks, it's now up to the jury to decide if Erin Trudy Patterson is a murderer or not...\
